CT PROSPECT — Prospect Town Council finalizes police and library budgets in cuts and restorations. The Town Council approved the Police Department budget unanimously at $1,437,655.59 after cutting $9,000 from initial proposals, including reductions to officers ($4,000), supplies ($3,000), and vehicle computer equipment ($2,000). The council separately voted 7-1-1 to restore $3,000 to the Prospect Public Library's Supplies line item after director Sue McKernan testified that summer reading programs and year-end activities required the funds; the library's final budget totaled $395,345.
The police budget represents a roughly 2 percent increase and includes upgrades to body and dash cameras, Taser equipment, vehicle outfitting, and training costs.
