Forensic Audit Subcommittee outlines municipal audit proposal parameters
misc · Meeting of August 7, 2026
CT PROSPECT — Prospect Forensic Audit Subcommittee begins drafting audit services request for proposals. The four-member subcommittee discussed scope and timeline for a comprehensive municipal audit focused on the town's largest departments and expenditures over one or two fiscal years. Scott Martin emphasized active committee involvement, including monthly meetings with the selected auditor and in-person interviews with finalist firms.
The committee agreed the audit should assess compliance with the Town Charter, local ordinances, state and federal laws, and internal financial controls, with no intent to seek evidence of misconduct. Chaka Felder volunteered to draft the RFP and create a vendor-evaluation scoring rubric, with proposals due August 7, 2026, and a committee recommendation to Town Council on October 6, 2026.
