Regional District 16 approves staffing hires and capital work

CT PROSPECT — Regional School District 16 hires three staff members and transfers surplus. The Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of Raymond E. Snyder IV as a science teacher at Long River Middle School starting February 2 at $80,043 annually, Janet Sweetland as a Grade 6 science teacher at the same school starting March 9 at $97,228 annually, and Emily Ferens as a district-wide Board-Certified Behavior Analyst starting January 26 at $109,000 annually.
The board also accepted resignations from Lina Tabury and Michael Magas, appropriated $29,159 for HVAC system repairs at Laurel Ledge Elementary School, and transferred $571,019 in surplus to non-lapsing funds. Superintendent Michael P. Yamin cautioned that next year's budget will be challenging due to rising costs.
