Council approves $1.9 million in departmental budget items

CT PROSPECT — Town Council approves $1.9 million in annual budget items. During a special workshop session, Chairman Mike Palmerie Jr. and the council unanimously approved ten budget line items totaling $1.9 million, including Fire Protection at $545,055 representing a $23,000 increase for stipends, insurance, and a new Employee Assistance Program. Discussions focused on electricity costs rising 30 percent through Connecticut Conference of Municipalities rates and water rate increases from Connecticut Water Company.

The council designated $15,000 over three years for the town's 200th Anniversary in 2027, planning a parade and possible Civil War reenactment.
