Prospect Town Council approves most budget items in split votes

CT PROSPECT — Prospect Town Council approves most budget items in special workshop. The council unanimously approved budgets for nine departments, including Solid Waste at $795,640 and Library at $392,345, during its May 18 special meeting with all nine members present. Parks and Recreation spending split the council: the 5-3 vote, with one abstention from Chairman Mike Palmerie Jr., approved a $423,599 total after reducing Programs to $171,104 following discussion of a proposed nurse position for summer camp.

A late tie vote defeated a motion to decrease the Library Video line item to $2,500. The council tabled Technology and Police budgets for later discussion.
